Fall has officially arrived, bringing the cold air and early sunset with it. One thing I always struggle with during the colder months is finding hobbies to keep me entertained when my favorite outdoor hobbies are no longer an option. Pickleball after dinner and hot girl walks with friends are some of my summer and spring staples that are not as enjoyable in the snow.
For those of us working a 9-to-5 office job, we begin to get home after the sun has already set. This leads to doom scrolling on TikTok and binging Netflix. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good rot night, but not every night after work.
This post is all about easy, at-home hobbies to try this fall and winter. Let’s put down the screens, get a little creative, and make the most of this cozy season! This helps support the blog and allows me to continue creating helpful content. Thank you!

Water color painting is also on the top of my list to try more this winter. This is an easy clean up art option, making it easy to pull out when you have some spare time and put away quickly. 4. At-Home Yoga/Pilates
I love going to my yoga and Pilates classes during the week. I utilize ClassPass, which gives me the opportunity to try out new studios every week in my area. That said, I don’t always have the time to make it to the studio every day. Luckily, there are plenty of affordable items you can keep at home for those days when you’d rather stay in or your schedule’s too busy to get out.
Some of my must-haves for at-home Pilates workouts include a yoga mat, a pair of 2–3 pound dumbbells, a good resistance band and ankle weights. If you’re just getting started, there are tons of great beginner-friendly workouts on YouTube you can follow along with.

5. Propagate New Plants
Plants have always been a passion of mine, and I recently discovered that many of the ones I already own can be propagated. Propagation is the process of taking a cutting, whether a stem or leaf, from an existing plant and allowing it to grow new roots in water. This is such a fun way to start or build your plant collection, without having to spend money on new plants every time.
I personally love thrifting for unique vases and finding new ways to propagate my plants while also decorating my space. This is such a thoughtful gift option as well for the holidays. You can plant your propagations and give them to loved ones as new plants.

Cooking and baking are great ways to spend time in a productive way instead of scrolling on TikTok. When you’re just starting out, the endless options of recipes can feel a little overwhelming. There are so many beginner-friendly cookbooks out there that will help inspire you on your cooking journey.
Learning to cook doesn’t have to be stressful. It’s all about enjoying the process, one recipe at a time!

8. Reading
Reading is such a productive way to spend time instead of being on your phone. There are so many different genres to try out until you get a feel for what really interests you as you begin to read different books. In the day and age of the kindle, I am still someone who enjoys to read the physical book as it gives me a sense of disconnecting from technology for some time.
This is such a great opportunity to get into some cozy clothes and bundle up on the couch. This is also a great way to educate yourself on anything that you have been wanting to try. There are so many books even on all of the hobbies that I have touched on above. If you want to learn more about yoga and pilates before getting into it, grab a good book to educate yourself on the practice more.
I’ve included some of my favorite books recently:
- The Housemaid Series
- Throne of Glass Series (My FAVORITE)
- Think Like a Monk
- Daisy Jones & The Six
- The Book Thief
Thank you for reading and going through some of my hobbies that I am looking forward to getting back into and trying the winter season. I hope that you were able to get some inspiration from these ideas and find some good products to help you get started. I will be continuing to post all about lifestyle tips and tricks and every day things that influence my daily life!
